What is the ‘Inner Child’? The Inner Child is part of our subconscious psyche that more often than not controls our behaviour. Our inner child holds on to fears, anger and traumas from our formative childhood years and can be the cause of our decision making, our relationships and our emotions as adults.
A quick example of this can be constantly seeking approval and attention. We do this as adults due to our Inner Child having to have done the same thing. Something as simple as ‘middle child syndrome’ could have caused this. Our younger sibling getting the paternal love and our older sibling getting the maternal love, leaving the middle child fighting for attention.
